About / Jon Farley

Fifteen years behind the camera and handling the edit.

I'm Jon, a Bristol-based self-shooting director, editor and motion designer. For over fifteen years I've been the one person you can hand a brief, a camera and a deadline to, and get a finished film back at the other end.

Chapter one

The short version

I started as a self shooter, editor and motion graphics specialist, which is a long way of saying I learned to do everything myself because there was nobody else in the room. Fifteen years later, that's still the part I love most.

I still work as creative director for a video content agency, running teams, shaping pitches, and sitting in the rooms where the ideas either survive or get quietly killed. It's taught me how to hold a brief lightly, how to argue for the right shot, and how to write a script that a client can actually say out loud.

Alongside that, I love working directly with clients, one to one, on the projects that don't need a whole agency around them. Just me, a camera, and the person who actually cares about the outcome. Local briefs get my full attention. Events, corporate films, panel talks, founder stories, product launches, anything with a real room and real people in it.

Chapter two

Four hats, one head

I keep the crew small and the disciplines close together on purpose. It's faster, it's honest, and the film in your inbox looks like the film we talked about.

Chapter three

The work I say yes to

I'm at my best when the brief has real people, a real room, and a reason to exist. If it sounds like any of these, we'll get on.
